From 1 July 2022, any person eligible for a cervical screening test can take their own screening test.

About self-collection

Since 1 July 2022, all people eligible for a cervical screening test are able to take their own screening test using a swab to collect a sample from their vagina.

Screening regularly is the best way for protection against cervical cancer.

It’s why it’s so heartening to see the option to self-screen has been taken up by people who have never screened or are overdue.
