Dr Marion Saville - MB ChB, Am Bd (Anat
Path & Cytopath), FIAC, Grad Dip Med (Clin Epi)
A/Prof Saville was
appointed Director of VCS in July 2000. She is a New Zealand
medical graduate who trained in cytopathology and
histopathology in the United States. She is a Fellow of the
International Academy of Cytology and serves on the Membership
Committee of the Academy. A/Prof
Saville’s major interest is in cervical screening policy and
planning and she has completed a Graduate Diploma in Clinical
Epidemiology at the University of Sydney in 1998.
A/Prof Saville
currently serves on a number of advisory committees including
the Advisory Panels for the Medical Services Advisory
Committee (MSAC); Reference 39 "Human papillomavirus triage
test for women with possible or definite low-grade squamous
intra-epithelial abnormalities of the cervix", and MSAC
application 1122 “The ThinPrep® System for Cervical Cancer
Screening”.
A/Prof Saville has
recently been involved in the HPV Working Party to the
Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI);
The Policy and New Technologies subcommittee of the Australian
Screening Advisory Committee (ASAC) and she was a member of
the National Health and Medical Research Committee (NHMRC)
reviewing the Guidelines for the Management of Asymptomatic
Women with Screen Detected Abnormalities, chairing the
terminology working group.

Dr Stella Heley BA (Hons), MB BS, Dip
Ven (Lond), FACSHP
Over the last decade Dr Heley has met and
spoken to literally hundreds of doctors and nurse
practitioners and has given lectures on all aspects of the
cervical screening program, from the technique of taking a
quality Pap smear to the advent and advisability of using
the new technologies. If you would like to speak

Dr Siobhan Bourke
Dr Siobhan Bourke is a Sexual Health Liaison Physician who has
been working with VCS since 2006. Working closely with Dr
Stella Heley, the Senior Liaison Physician and Lyndal Ritchie
who assists in coordinating the Liaison Physicians Educational
Updates, Siobhan is able to deliver lectures about PAP smears
& techniques, HPV and the HPV Vaccine. Siobhan can be

Dr
Lara Roeske MBBS Hons, FRACGP Dip Venereology
Dr Lara Roeske is a General Practitioner
who joined VCS as a Liaison Physician in 2009. Her interests
include preventative health, women’s health and sexual health.
She is also actively involved in medical education at all
levels. As a GP, Lara is committed to providing high-quality
medical care to her patients with a focus on the health of
women and their families. She is dedicated to improving the
knowledge of the importance of screening to prevent cervical
cancer to women with disabilities and their general
