Preventing Cervical Cancer in the Indo-Pacific Conference (PCC 2021) – Friday 26th March 2021
The virtual Preventing Cervical Cancer in the Indo-Pacific Conference was hosted by the Australian Centre of Research Excellence in Cervical Cancer Control in partnership with the Asia-Oceania Research Organisation in Genital Infection and Neoplasia (AOGIN) and APEC.
Prevention of Cervical Cancer in the Indo-Pacific focused on achieving elimination of cervical cancer for women and girls in the Indo-Pacific region and addressing inequities in cervical cancer outcomes.
The conference included:
A keynote address from Senator the Hon Marise Payne, Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Women
A joint meeting of the SUCCESS ECHO, Asia-Oceania Research Organisation in Genital Infection and Neoplasia (AOGIN) and APEC focusing on strategies to scale up screening and vaccination in the Indo-Pacific region to achieve World Health Organization global cervical cancer elimination targets
An expert panel discussion led by Dr Ted Trimble from the US National Cancer Institute on strategies to improve equity in cervical cancer outcomes for women across the Indo-Pacific region
